Starting with Chambonnières' print of 1670, almost all French composers included tables of ornaments in their printed editions, to illustrate 'the manner of playing.' Jean-Henri d’Anglebert (1635-1691) included a very thorough table of ornaments, perhaps the most complete of all. His symbols and types of ornaments provide both melodic embellishments and elaborate chordal figurations. D'Anglebert's system, like all French ornament systems, is combinatorial: a small number of simple gestures can be combined in a multitude of ways to produce a very rich set of ornamental figures. Since D'Anglebert uses exactly the same set of ornaments in one of his figured-bass examples, his entire oeuvre is a rich source of ideas for accompaniment in the French style. His table served as the basis for many similar tables published later. Monsieur de Saint Lambert makes frequent reference to it in his influential Les principes du clavecin of 1702; and J. S. Bach, C.P.E.'s father, used it as the basis for the ornament table he provided for Wilhelm Friedemann's Clavier-Büchlein in 1720, which is applicable to much of his, that is J.S.'s own music.

‘Tashan’ , the duo of Vishal-Shekar return with music for yet

another comedy film since ‘Golmaal’. The movie combines Reitesh

Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani which raises the musical expectations

even further since ‘Masti’ provided some great music. The album is

even more special as Vishal Dadlani steps in as lyricist for the

album.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na - Youthfully Romantic!
‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ music releases very much the Aamir Khan style

under the hands of mentor Shammi Kapoor. The movie produced by Aamir

Khan might just prove to be the perfect launch pad for nephew Imraan

Khan. The movie promises more with director Abbas Tyrewala penning

down some beautiful lines and with the ace A.R.Rahman at work.

Sirf - Decent start for debutant Sohail Sen
Sirf comes across as a movie bringing forth the stories of people

living in metros very much like Anurag Basu’s ‘Life in a Metro’. The

only difference here, being that ‘Sirf’ has been done on much lower

budgets and seems void of the necessary publicity.

Tashan - A good blend of English, Hindi and Bhojpuri
The album opens with ‘Dil Haara’a rock cum folksy affair rendered by

Sukwinder Singh. The lyrics have been penned by Piyush Sharma and

the track has some motivating phrases. The pumping elements in the

form of “oo-aah” signature and the electric guitars enhance

Sukhwinder’s vocals. But, the track fails to really make it as one

of those numbers that either sink into you or make you hum it and

Mission Istaanbul - An album without a vision
Director Apoorva Lakhia indeed loves to do macho flicks and has a

Love Story 2050 - Anu Malik fails to impress

Kuselan - Simply stunning
A soft melody in Chaaral and Sollamma, nice peppy tunes for Cinema

Cinema, Perinba Pechukara and Om Zarare sum up the album. But the

varied instrumentation and the catchy interludes and rhythm makes

all the difference. Prakash proved his skills in 'Veyyil' and

‘Kireedom’ before. He seems to have come more polished and skilled

in ‘Kuselan’.

Subramaniapuram - Provides a fresh feel
The good use of rhythm and a mix of melody and peppy beats, the

album have songs which are sure to top audio charts. What more, the

debutant music composer has introduced several new voices, who

provides a fresh feel.

Dhaam Dhoom - Harris all the way
‘Dhaam Dhoom’ adds to the list of topnotch albums rendered by Harris

Jayaraj. It has everything a music-lover would ask for - melody,

Dasavatharam - Himesh at his best

Kallori - Trendy and youthful
Joshwa Sridhar has done it again. The young musician, who had

enthralled us with his different approach in Kaathal, has come out

with another winner with this album. Though the songs are not

outstanding, they perfectly reflect the mood of the central theme of

the movie, i.e., the life in collage campus. The songs are trendy

and youthful. They offer verity and right spirit

Music has been a great influence in the lives of many people through lyrics and rhythm. There are many different styles that can be performed by either a male or female. Music has been around for many years and is constantly changing. Music has been divided into six periods: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Twentieth Century. Music is written in symbols that represent musical sounds. The system of written symbols is called Musical Notation. "The primary requirement of any notation is that it be suited to the music it represents ." The simplest texture of music is monophonic or single voiced texture. Gregorian chant is an example of monophonic texture. All music up to about a thousand years ago, of which we have any knowledge, was monophonic . Its melody is heard with out a harmonic accompaniment or other vocal lines and attention is focused on the single line . To this day the music of the Oriental world - of China, Japan, India, Java, Bali, and the Arab nations -is largely monophonic . Polyphonic or many-voiced texture is when two or more melodic lines are combined. Most Medieval polyphonic music is anonymous, though some composers were so important that their name was preserved along with their music . The polyphonic texture is based on counterpoint: the art and science of combining in a single texture two or more simultaneous melodic lines, each with a rhythmic life of its own . The development of counterpoint took place at a time when composers were mainly occupied with religious choral music, which was by its nature, many-voiced . Polyphony had to be written in a way that would indicate the rhythm and pitch precisely. It brought the emergence of regular meters that enabled different voices to stay together.
